Family is central in this book with Malik fiercely fighting to protect his sisters, all the way to the end which will make you cry (GET TISSUES!!). A Song of Wraiths and Ruin is a fun ride, with our main protagonists, Karina and Malik having to kill each other for valid reasons…to save their family. Seriously, I have a whole review screaming about this book. Murder plots with a dash of siblings who would literally kill to save each other.

In fact, I even screamed in a thread and it was really difficult remaining spoiler free despite wanting everyone to run and pick a copy of.

If you follow me on Twitter (highlight with account) and Instagram (highlight to account), then you’ll have seen me rave about this book. Once you’ve done that, sit back, get your Book Depository, Kindle, library app, open and ready as you enjoy 5 books that I have personally read and adored and would recommend depending on the aspects of Daevabad trilogy you enjoyed the most.įor those after political intrigue, unequal power dynamics, enemies to acquaintances…friends? Read it and let me know what you think. Shannon has blessed us all with a series full of adventure, politics, magic and has even introduced some really well-written, complex, morally ambiguous characters and yes, our queen is writing more so do check out her newsletter and more importantly her Twitter for more information. If you’re anything like me and my friends, then you’ve likely spent the past few days consuming Empire of Gold before emerging out in the sun (while social distancing) and thinking: wow…what a tumoulous journey…I WANT MORE!!!Īnd since we’re collectively mourning the end of an incredible series filled with battles, mystery, political intrigue and adorable cinnamon rolls, I thought, ‘Hey, why don’t *I* take on the mission in finding recommendations for everyone missing the magical, mystical, and incredibly rich world of Daevabad?’
